SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION INFORMATION 2026

The Trustees of THE WAIKANAE MUSIC SOCIETY CHARITABLE TRUST FOR YOUNG MUSICIANS invite applications for the 2026 Scholarships. The Trust was established to recognise promise and commitment to chamber music by music students under 30 by way of awards and/or scholarships (and in doing so fostering the love of chamber music).

This year three scholarships of $4,000.00 each are offered for education or performance development from applicants who must be New Zealand residents and tertiary students under the age of 30 on 30 Sepetember 2026.

The closing date for 2026 applications is Wednesday 30 September 2026. Late applications will not be considered.

There is no application form, but your letter of application must provide all of the following information:

• Full name, address, telephone number, email and date of birth (must be after 30 September 1996).
• Confirm that you are a New Zealand resident.
• Instrument
• Music education to date.
• Notable recent highlights and achievements (e.g. competition successes, public performances, master classes, membership of groups/orchestras/choirs; no more than one page).
• A brief statement (no more than 300 words) giving your reason for applying, with a clear indication of what the award is to be used for.

You must provide written support from two recognised teachers or music education organisations.

Successful recipients must submit to the Trust prior to 30 September 2027, a written report on the benefits that they have received from the grant.

The Trust reserves the right to use names and photos of successful applicants for future publicity.
