"To celebrate their 30^th Anniversary in 2008, the Waikanae Music Society established a charitable trust to recognise promise and commitment in New Zealand by music students up to and including the age of 29 years. The Trust's aim is to foster their love of chamber music through granting awards and/or scholarships."

Alexander McFarlane (viola) To attend masterclasses at IMS Prussia Cove, Cornwall, England, and with Tabea Zimmermann.

Alexa Thomson (viola) To assist with the costs of orchestral auditions and competitions, including travel and making recordings.
