Since 2008, The Waikanae Music Society Charitable Trust for Young Musicians has awarded annual scholarships to promising young New Zealand music students under the age of 30 who have the potential to make successful careers as musicians.
Over the 16 years since its inception, the Trust has awarded 52 scholarships with a total value of $147,500.
We are very grateful to those members who have donated to the Trust over the years, allowing us to support many remarkable young musicians.

Henry Close(French horn). For assistance in his studies toward a Master of Arts degree at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
Mark Wigglesworth(piano /repetiteur). In support of his final year of a Masters of Music in Opera Repetiteurship degree from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
Abhinath Berry (piano). In support of his Artist Master (Advanced Instrumental Studies in Piano) at the Guildhall School of Music, London.
Nina Noble(trumpet). For study towards a Master of Performance degree at the Royal College of Music in London.

Michaela Cadwgan (soprano). To help fund a trip to the UK to meet teachers and investigate study possibilities at various music schools prior to applying for auditions.
Sarah Rathbun (trombone). In support of her studies towards a Master of Orchestral Performance degree at the Manhattan School of Music.

Christopher Everest (classical guitar). To help fund a solo classical guitar tour around New Zealand, presenting concerts and organising workshops to teach and promote classical guitar.
Jiazhou Conroy Hu (piano). Towards professional recording costs, audition fees and travel to auditions at music schools in the United States.
Morgan-Andrew King (bass-baritone). For travel, accommodation and vocal coaching in order to compete in the Lockwood Aria Competition in Rotorua and to perform in the Hawke’s Bay Opera production of Die Zauberflöte.
Isabella Gregory (flute). For support in undertaking auditions for Master of Music degrees in the United States and for auditions to attend associated orchestral summer festivals.
